Snow Day Assignments for Thursday, March 13, 2014
5th grade social studies: no assignments for today, except continue studying your week 6 newspaper and notes. The next day we have class, we will be playing the week 6 review game and the following day we will be taking our week 6 test.
6th grade: I know that I didn't have you pack up for blizzard bags. If you have the materials at home to complete these assignments, great! If not, don't worry! The next day that we have class I will allow time to get caught up.
Language Arts: Read Walk Two Moons chapters 27, 28, and 29. I will give you the worksheet for these chapters when we return to school.
Your spelling test will still be tomorrow, but it will be optional. Keep in mind when deciding to take your spelling test that this is the second to last spelling test for the quarter. Also, even if you decide not to take the spelling test, you are still expected to complete the spelling homework assignments.
7th grade social studies: Continue studying for your chapter 13 test. The test will now be pushed back to Tuesday of next week.

I understand that some students don't have access to the internet or may be experiencing technical difficulties with these electronic assignments. If you are experiencing difficulties with these assignments because of the reasons I stated above, we can allow time during school to complete this work on the computers, such as before/after school, during study hall, or I can send hard copies home to be completed as homework. However, if you are capable of completing these assignments now, I encourage you to do so. When we return to school, we are going to do our best to proceed with the following lesson. If you have any questions or concerns, or are experiencing any difficulties with these assignments, please email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to help and respond in a timely manner.

social studies: read textbook pages 120-125 (Lesson 3: The Beginnings of Judaism). We will complete this section in your notes handout when we return to school. Also, complete the Think About It questions on page 125 #1-5, just like we normally do for homework.
language arts: Attached below are two documents on semicolons and colons. Read through the 12.5 Using Semicolons and Colons notes. These would be the notes that we would have completed if we had school today. You do not have to copy them into your notebook, but simply read through them. I will provide you with this handout when we return to school. The blue text in the handout is additional information that I have provided to help clarify the rules. After reading through the handout, complete the semicolons and colons worksheet. Write your answers on a piece of notebook paper.

social studies: define vocab terms #16-19 (Judaism, Torah, Monotheism, Diaspora). When you have these terms defined, your entire chapter 5 vocab sheet should be completed. If your sheet is not completed, please make up the terms that you have missed.
